Andrew C. Aitken, General Counsel, Attorney



Andrew C. Aitken represents small businesses and individuals in connection with their intellectual property needs.

Mr. Aitken's practice  is directed to the preparation and prosecution of  utility patents, design patents, trademarks and copyrights.  In addition, Mr. Aitken has an extensive track record of successfully litigating intellectual property and other commercial disputes throughout the country.

Mr. Aitken makes a commitment to learn the technology of each of his clients as well as how the technology fits with the client's overall business strategy.  In addition to intellectual property work, Andy also provides counsel and advice on raising capital, contracts, employment issues and corporate governance. 

Andy Aitken has special expertise in connection with the amusement game industry, hardware and tools, toys, electro-mechanical inventions, business methods, software and the beverage industry.



 



Don O. Carlson, Marketing Advisor


Don serves as both the working editor and publisher of Automated Builder since which is the only national publication covering all seven segments of housing including: (1) Production Builders, (2) Panelized Home Manufacturers, (3) HUD-Code (mobile) Home Manufacturers, (4) Modular Home Manufacturers, (5) Component Manufacturers, (6) Special Unit (commercial) Manufacturers, and (7)MH Builders and Builders/Dealers.

He is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists (Sigma Delta Chi), and has been named winner of five national journalism awards including one in the early 1950s for his national coverage of the Lu-Re-Co system of construction, a forerunner of many panelized home manufacturing operations. He was awarded an honorary plaque in 1978 for his promotion of the goals of the structural wood components industry by the Truss Plate Institute and the Component Manufacturers Council. He was named to the Hall of Fame by the Wood Truss Council of America in 1988, and he was elected to the Suppliers Board of Governors of the Manufactured Housing Institute in 1989.

He established through Automated Builder the annual Achievement in Housing Award in 1974, the National Roof Truss and Floor Truss Production Awards in 1977, the Regional and National Manufactured Home Sales Center Awards in 1984, and the International Exposed Wood Truss Competition in 1992.



He has served as editor and publisher of Automated Builder Magazine since 1974, and he published the Automated Builder Dictionary/Encyclopedia of Industrialized Housing in 1982 which was revised, expanded and republished in 1991 and again in 1995. He published the book ‘How to Start an Inner city Housing Plant’ in 1999 and the book on SAVED (Shelter All Victims of Emergencies and Disasters) in 2000, and ‘How & Why to Buy a Factory Built Home’ in 2001. He was active in the Building Systems Councils of the National Association of Home builders; the Wood Truss Council of America, and the Wood Foundation Institute which he co-founded in 1980. He has conducted five study missions to the advanced industrialized housing producers in Japan (1984-1988), led the first two independent housing study missions to the Peoples Republic of China in 1986 and 1987, and visited and reported on the advanced housing and component plants in Finland in 1992, and again in 2000.





Ron Cohen, CPA, MST, Partner 

Greenstein Rogoff Olsen & Co., LLP, a leading CPA firm in the San Francisco Bay Area



Ron Cohen has more than 29 years experience in public accounting and related industry work. He earned an undergraduate accounting degree from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and then a Masters in Taxation from Golden Gate University. Ron has extensive knowledge in International Tax and has traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia handling tax issues. He has also served as a tax director for a company with sales in excess of $2 billion. Ron teaches courses in taxation and financial accounting at Ohlone Community College. Ron lives in Fremont with his wife, who teaches English at Mission San Jose High School, and has two sons. Prior to his life as a CPA, Ron did some stand-up comedy in Chicago and received personal advice and coaching from Bill Cosby and Tim Reed. However, after observing that the vast majority of comedians have a very low taxable income, Ron decided to follow his father's example and become a CPA.



Morgan M. Watson, P.E., CEM, CBIE

Morgan Watson and his company MEL Inc. Engineering Consultants has provided Construction Quality Assurance Services (also known as Construction Supervision and Inspection) to the Corps of Engineers New Orleans District since 1980, and the Vicksburg District since 1984, and the City of New Orleans since 1978.

During this period, MEL Inc. has provided the Corps of Engineers over 225 QA inspectors and related personnel to oversee construction at well over 130 construction sites.



In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, MEL Inc. provided safety and QC management for a Corps of Engineers/FEMA prime contractor performing private property debris removal from approximately 8,200 properties in Jefferson Parish, which included pre- and post photographic documentation of hazardous trees (leaners and hangers) on the site.



For many years MEL Inc. has been involved in energy management projects ranging from conducting energy audits for buildings ranging from small commercial buildings to schools and churches to large industrial facilities such as the NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility.   Solar energy systems designed include several large systems for the East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority (heating, cooling, hot water), Housing Authority of New Orleans (hot water for several multifamily hi-rise buildings), and the Mississippi State Prison (heating, cooling, hot water), plus many smaller solar energy systems for commercial buildings and several private residences



David Gordon, General Contractor, Advisor


David brings to GloPac over 24 years of highly valued experience as a licensed General Contractor, a licensed Real Estate Agent, and a business entrepreneur with extensive sales and marketing experience. He is a dynamic communicator who has extensive experience and skills in customer service, and a strong history of cultivating long term customer relationships.
He has a strong understanding of FHA, VA, Conforming, Reverse, Jumbo and Commercial loans, and the experience to thoroughly comprehend underwriting guidelines, as well as programs, policies and procedures.
David has earned a reputation for being a strong team builder capable of mentoring other employees and improving daily work operations.
Through his experience with a successful southern California homebuilder and developer, David gained valuable insight into the sales and promotions process for new homebuilders. He also worked directly with the home buyers during escrow and through the title process to facilitate a smooth transaction. This knowledge will help GloPac with our strategic sales to major home builders.



Ron Crane, GloPac-DMI Vice President



As DMI’s Vice President - Assessment and Planning, Mr. Crane is responsible for assisting clients in assessing and analyzing their vulnerabilities and weaknesses, then developing comprehensive strategies to mitigate them. His support most typically involves consultation, evaluation, planning, and oversight of programs for integrated emergency management, continuity and sustainment of operations, emergency response, and interoperable communications.

Professional Background
Before joining DMI, Mr. Crane was the Hospital & Medical Liaison Officer for the Pulaski County Office of Emergency Management, and at the same time, he served as the Emergency Preparedness Manager for the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the only academic medical center in the State of Arkansas as well as the only adult, Level I trauma center in Arkansas.
His experience includes numerous assessment, planning, and oversight responsibilities for clients in commercial, government, and healthcare environments.





John Brackin, Principal with GloPac-DMI



Professional Background
Mr. Brackin serves as an emergency management, military, governmental relation and law enforcement subject matter expert for DMI.
His background includes over forty years of government service as a military officer and public servant, culminating at the rank of Colonel.  This includes thirteen years of full-time law enforcement at the municipal, county, and state level including assignment in the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division and as Administrator of Special Operations and the first Director of the Arkansas State Fusion Center.  Over thirty-three years of service in the U.S. Army/Arkansas National Guard as both a reserve and active duty officer.  Over eighteen months in state government in both the Governor’s staff as well as cabinet level positions in charge of the state’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.
He is recognized as having assisted the Government of Guatemala in reorganizing its emergency management division.  He also was instrumental in developing, executing and managing all care, shelter and response on behalf of the State of Arkansas for Hurricane Katrina, including testimony before the U.S. Congress on the successes of the operations.  He further created the first intelligence fusion center in Arkansas while Special Operations Administrator for the Arkansas State Police.



Glen Smith, Principal with GloPac-DMI



Professional Background
Mr. Smith serves as a hazardous materials and emergency management subject matter expert for DMI.
His background includes over twenty years of experience within the hazardous materials realm to include operational response, specialization and instruction.  His scope of practice includes a whole host of toxic industrial chemicals as well as chemical warfare agents.
Mr. Smith additionally is a recognized expert in personal protective equipment and detection technology as well as hot zone operations.  In addition, he has considerable experience in remediation work in both public and private settings to include healthcare.



John Siu, Principal with GloPac-DMI



Professional Background
Mr. Siu serves as a communications, military and governmental subject matter expert for DMI.
His experience spans a remarkable career in both the military as well as private sectors including service with the White House Military Office, specifically with the White House Communications Agency.  He has considerable experience as a mobile communications technician, quality assurance inspector, technical training instructor, and logistics specialist, working at the White House Communications Agency.  His additional experience includes network operations engineering for the Defense Information Systems Agency as well as the first deployable, Executive Communications support technician for the Secretary of Homeland Security’s advance team.
He currently holds a Top Secret/SCI “YANKEE WHITE” Blue Card designation.

Winston Minor, Principal with GloPac-DMI


Professional Background
Mr. Minor serves as a fire, rescue, EMS and emergency management/Incident Command subject matter expert for DMI.
His experience includes over thirty years in the fire service including two terms as Chief of the Atlanta, Georgia Fire Department.  He was the first African-American Fire Chief to serve in his rank for seven consecutive years. Chief Minor has managed budgets of over 60 million dollars, commanded 900 employees and 35 fire stations throughout the 133-mile service area including providing protection for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, “The World Busiest Airport.” Mr. Winston Minor acquired international recognition for emergency response and has lectured on the Olympics, terrorism and public education.
Another significant accomplishment in Chief Minor’s career was the development and implementation of the 1996 Centennial Olympics Fire Service Plan, which provided fire protection for athletes from all over the world at the Olympic Village and visitors at several Olympic venues throughout the city of Atlanta.
Fire Chief Minor acquired international recognition for emergency response command and was invited to lecture in Johannesburg, South Africa, Queenstown, New Zealand, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and various other cities within the United States. His topics have included the Olympics, terrorism, first responders, fire prevention, and public education. He also established the Atlanta Fire Department’s Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago Foreign Exchange Program.





Dr. Grady Bray, Principal with GloPac-DMI


Professional Background
Dr. Bray serves as a family assistance, crisis communications, mortuary operations and support subject matter expert for DMI.
Dr. Bray’s experience is as a disaster psychologist with an international reputation for his expertise in family assistance, critical incident responder support, mass fatality response and corporate disaster psychology.  He served as the Yates County, New York Coroner and was one of the original founders of the federal DMORT program.  He helped author FEMA’s first Mass Fatalities Course.  He continues to serve as an adjunct and frequent presenter for the federal government’s Emergency Management Institute.
Dr. Bray’s response experience includes the Oklahoma City bombing and numerous natural disasters as well as TWA 800, Swiss Air 111, and other air disasters as well as the World Trade Center attacks, the Boxing Day Tsunami in SE Asia and Hurricane Katrina.  Dr. Bray has provided assessment and training for the Executive Office of the President of the United States as well as national and international training or response teams to assist corporations, governments, public health departments and universities with  crises, disasters, emergency plan development, drills, exercises and mass fatality response.

 

Dr. Jon Palmer, Principal and Chief Medical Officer with GloPac-DMI


Professional Background
Dr. Palmer serves as a healthcare and medical subject matter expert for DMI.

Dr. Palmer has considerable experience as an emergency medicine physician at both the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and Duke University.  He not only manages patient care but also serves as an Assistant Professor and is instrumental in the training of emergency medicine residents.  He has a considerable knowledge of emergency preparedness and tactical medical response.

 


Cliff Shrum, Principal with GloPac-DMI


Professional Background
Mr. Shrum serves as an emergency management, special operations, military, safety and governmental subject matter expert with DMI.
His experience includes over thirty years of military service culminating with the rank of Command Sergeant Major at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  His service includes multiple special operations postings throughout the world with the U.S. Army.  Additionally, he is the author of several significant Army Field Manuals.  His private sector experience includes industrial safety as well as healthcare emergency preparedness.  He has served as the Administrator to Region 13 in Pennsylvania to include the City of Pittsburgh and surrounding counties, considered one of the larger Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) cities.  He was instrumental in the planning and management of homeland security operations and response for the G-20 Pittsburgh Summit in 2009.
